Chris Leonardo

Chris is a trusted advisor and counsel to companies, investors, law firms, and specialty insurers, who rely on his nearly 30 years of litigation and legal investment experience in deal structuring, diligence and claims valuation, origination strategy, and risk management.

After starting his career as a prosecutor in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office under Robert Morgenthau, he joined one of Washington’s largest commercial litigation firms, where he represented corporate clients as plaintiffs in complex multidistrict antitrust matters across the agribusiness, automotive, chemical, consumer electronics, financial, and software industries — ultimately helping them secure more than $2 billion in recoveries. He also advised companies and their directors and officers facing regulatory enforcement actions and parallel criminal and civil investigations.

Chris later co-founded Adams Holcomb, a complex antitrust and commercial litigation boutique organized as an Alternative Business Structure. Serving as the firm’s managing partner, he helped generate over $2 billion for the firm’s corporate and other clients.

Chris’s legal investment experience began in 2006, when he started serving as the outside general counsel and lead underwriter to the first publicly traded litigation finance fund. He later co-founded a litigation investment business at a leading global restructuring and advisory firm.  He subsequently served as a director at an established legal investing fund, where his investment mandate focused on large corporate monetization opportunities.

Chris’ deep experience in the market for litigation finance allows him to advise capital providers, insurers, and borrowers on all aspects of litigation investing.  He also is routinely sought for his advice on operational, compliance, and investment related issues involving Alternative Business Structures. He is routinely ranked by Chambers and Partners (Litigation Finance Deal Counsel), has been recognized as a Lawdragon 100 Global Leader in Litigation Finance, and is a member of the National ABS Law Firm Association.

He lives in Washington, D.C.
