Yahoo created the $17.3 million fund in a 2007 settlement with dissidents who said the company had given the Chinese government information about them. The complaint that less than $1 million reached imprisoned dissidents over a decade, while the nonprofit Yahoo was meant to oversee spent millions on Washington-area property, salaries for its director and his wife, and legal fees. The firm represented the plaintiffs.
