Venezuelan men sue aviation firms who flew them to notorious Salvadorian jail CSI Aviation and GlobalX accused of violating civil rights as part of Trump immigration crackdown.

The Guardian covered the firm’s work in Blanco Bonilla v. CSI Aviation, Inc. et al., our clients’ lawsuit against the two American aviation companies that flew Venezuelan men to El Salvador’s CECOT prison. In March 2025, after invoking the Alien Enemies Act, the Trump administration expelled more than 230 Venezuelan men from immigration custody to the maximum-security prison, where they were held for four months. The complaint alleges that CSI Aviation and GlobalX carried out the flights knowing the men would likely be tortured, and that they ignored a federal judge’s order to turn the planes around. It says CSI, the highest-value recipient of ICE contracts, took in $1.23 billion from the agency in 2025 and subcontracted the flights to GlobalX. The suit brings claims for false imprisonment, negligence, and civil rights violations. The firm represents the plaintiffs as co-counsel.
